Napier, Jemina
Jemina Napier has worked with the deaf community since 1988; as a sign language interpreter, interpreter educator, deaf community advocate, and a researcher. She is a senior lecturer in the Department of Linguistics at Macquarie University, where she established the first and only university program for training signed language interpreters in Australia. Her major research interest is in the field of signed language interpreting, but in addition to Deaf Studies her wider applied linguistics research interests include effective translation and interpreting pedagogy, sociolinguistics, and discourse analysis.
