Dr Leonie Rutherford teaches in the School of Communication and Creative Arts, Deakin University. Her research expertise includes: media practices of children and youth; television studies; multiplatform production, media policy; and influences of media on children’s digital literacy, health and educational outcomes. Her current ARC Discovery studies the ‘Ben10 problem’, the effects of saturation marketing on early childhood curricula. She has also written regularly on public broadcasting and children’s culture issues for The Conversation.
