Michael S. Bruner, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Communication at Humboldt State University in Arcata, California, U.S.A.   His research interests are in the connections among communication, culture, media, public discourse, and values.  He is co-editor of THE RHETORIC OF FOOD (Routledge, 2012).  His recent work on communication and food studies includes essays on "Irony and Food Politics" (Critical/Cultural Studies in Communication, 2015) and "Images of Food Insecurity in Nigeria" (Journal of Communication and Media Research, 2014).
