Sam Whiting is a musician, researcher, PhD candidate and sessional tutor at RMIT University, Melbourne, and is currently working on an Australian Research Council-funded Discovery Project that seeks to determine what makes Melbourne a ‘music city’. His doctoral research focuses on the live music scenes and ecology inherent in Melbourne’s small live music venues and he is a recipient of an Australian Postgraduate Award.
